The health and wealth are often denoted by greenery. Recollect the number of times you must have used the saying, “Grass is always GREEN on the other side” to indicate the comparative value. But how many times have we pondered over the plight of the Indian farmers who are entrusted or rather carry the batons of greenery in everyone’s life.
The food inflation has been continuously positive. Moreover, the rate of increase in food prices is double that of previous decade. There have been many initiatives by governments like MSP (Minimum Support Price), free soil testing, agricultural loans at zero interest rates. For an outsider, these points mean that the living standards of agrarian population is getting better. But, the status quo of the farmers paints very contradictory picture.
